NCLR 2010
Two Board members of the Penn State Law Review highlighted the Law Review’s recent groundbreaking approach to legal scholarship development at the National Conference of Law Reviews, which was held March 18-20, 2010, at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.
Justin Houser, Editor-in-Chief, and Alexis Snyder, Managing Editor, discussed Thinking Outside the Print Issue: Other Ways to Encourage Scholarship On-Campus. They discussed the concept of the law review as a vehicle for advancing scholarly interaction, reviewing what worked — and what didn’t — as they reviewed the one-year expansion of their journal from merely printing articles to hosting academic discussions, soliciting guest speakers, and fostering a lively online debate about hot legal topics. Houser and Snyder discussed specific methods and pitfalls, as well as articulated a general philosophy for the role of the law review in contemporary legal scholarship.
Additionally, Snyder served as a panelist on Tips & Techniques for Effective Write-On Competitions, and Houser served as a panelist on Symposium Issues.
